About This Project
This paver pool patio in Scituate had built-up algae, dirt, and weathered surface grime across the main walking areas. Like many patios on the South Shore, moisture, shade, pool traffic, leaves, and seasonal weather had caused the pavers to lose their clean, uniform look.
Paver patios are a major part of the outdoor space, especially around pools and entertaining areas. When they turn dark, green, or slippery, the entire backyard can feel older and less inviting. This project focused on safely cleaning the patio surface and bringing back a brighter, more refreshed appearance.
The Challenge
Paver patios require the right balance of cleaning power and control. Too little cleaning does not fully remove the organic buildup, but too much pressure can disturb joints, leave uneven marks, or create a streaky finish.
This patio needed a careful process to remove the surface grime while keeping the overall finish even. Pool areas also require extra care around edges, furniture zones, coping, landscaping, and nearby surfaces.
Our Approach
We started by clearing the work area and inspecting the patio for heavier buildup, shaded sections, and areas where grime had collected most.
The patio was cleaned using professional surface cleaning and rinsing methods designed for pavers. Areas with heavier organic growth were treated as needed to help break down algae and dark staining before the final rinse.
Extra attention was given to the edges, corners, and high-traffic sections around the pool where buildup tends to be most noticeable. The goal was to restore a clean, even look without overworking the surface.
The Result
The paver patio looked much brighter, cleaner, and more uniform after the cleaning. The dark buildup was removed, the pool area looked more inviting, and the outdoor space had a refreshed appearance without needing replacement or major repairs.
